OSHA Cites Houston Steel Construction Company for Safety Flaws

A Houston steel construction company faces $266,416 in proposed penalties and one serious, one willful, and one repeat violation for exposing workers to fall hazards while erecting a building in Cypress, Texas, according to the Labor Department Wednesday.

Sonny Steel Erectors Inc. received citations specifically for failure to secure a ladder at the building’s top to a rigid support, permitting workers to construct buildings taller than 15 feet without fall protection, and failure to ensure safe use of an aerial lift, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration said.
